I’m tech-savvy, or at least I'd like to think I am, but I'm not really. I can follow instructions and directions like nobody's business. Yes, I am a good, little sheep, but I admit, sometimes I get stuck. I sometimes… well, let's just leave it with, I get stuck.

Which is the reason for today’s episode: Technology Made Easy For Your Airbnb with Alex Nigg from Properly

Alex Nigg our Tech Sheppard:

Like anyone who enjoys comfort and convenience, I also like having a few simple tools and apps to make my life, and my hosting life, well…simpler. Nothing that requires an engineering degree, mind you, but just some simple techy stuff…. This time, instead of going around in circles and getting stuck or lost, I thought, “Why not speak to someone who could actually lead some of us sheep to the promised land of Tech?”

That’s right! I got us a tech-savvy shepherd! Who is this tech-savvy shepherd I speak of? His name is Alex Nigg, and he’s from Properly. And if anyone can lead us to Techyland, Alex can.

Alex travels the world, promoting his company, Properly. What is Properly? Glad you asked. Well, Properly is an app that hosts can use to send cleaning instructions to their housekeeper or cleaning staff from anywhere around the world. This way, everything is picture perfect from the moment your guests open the door. You can also use the Properly app to find a new service provider who is experienced with cleaning Airbnb.

If you want to try the Properly app to find service providers and get perfect turnovers every time, be sure to use my affiliate link to get your free 14-day trial at getproperly.com/thehostingjourney.

You can always reach Alex at Alex@getproperly.com

Alex’s travels haven’t stopped him from becoming a Superhost. Oh, no! Alex is using technology to create an amazing experience for his guests and to save himself money. Great combo meal, right?

Afraid of Technology?

During our conversation, Alex and I talked about how he prefers not to expose guests to a technology they don’t need or want. Technology is here to make things easier for hosts and guests, not to make things overwhelming or more complicated. It's all about keeping tech simple and value added. We spoke about smart locks and also about having your Plan B because cell phones can die, lose reception, or break. Tech is not perfect.

Technology for Your Airbnb
We discussed how he uses Nest Thermostats to create comfort for his guest, and again, to save money. And how he uses smart lights to create an inviting welcome to his home. Again, simple and uncomplicated but making life better.

Your 21st Century Home

Now, before you start clicking on the affiliate links below, think about how everything connects together. Alex discussed the intelligence system options. And you’ll see some options we discussed below.

Let’s get our home into the 21st century…and we will on this episode:

Technology Made Easy For Your Airbnb with Alex Nigg from Properly

Technology and automation are here to make your life easier. I resisted getting a lockbox for forever. I just kept a regular, non-tech, old school lockbox.

Why? Because I wanted to meet every guest. Well, after being kept waiting or having to cancel my plans one too many times…. you know what I’m talking about…I gave up. And giving up this time actually paid off. It was the best thing I ever did.

Maybe next I’ll be getting the Nest thermostat. Hey! Baby steps! You have to admit that Alexa does sound kind of fun. I mean, you can just say “play the hosting journey podcast,” and voila….you're listening to your favorite episode. The possibilities are endless. Endless!

Your Host,

Evelyn
